Video for Real Estate Grows Dramatically

A report released today by Wellcomemat.com details trends in real estate video use, based on results of a survey they conducted this fall. Here are some highlights:

  • Real estate video postings on their site are up 95% 2009 vs. 2008, in their words "indicating a clear path toward a tipping point."
  • Nine out of 10 respondents agreed “video improves
their ability to win listings over competing agents/brokers”
  • When searching for homes, consumers value photos the most, with videos not far behind (see chart above).
  • DIY video is becoming more possible with technical advances, but online video markets the agent as well as the home. According to the report: "If using video as a business-generating tool in listing presentations, an agent or broker either has to be great at producing genuine videos, or one could strongly argue that shooting one’s own video will do more harm than good."
